The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has opened a public consultation proposing to update the Low Interference Potential Devices (LIPD) Class License to allow Radio Local Area Network (RLAN) equipment to operate at low power levels in the 6 GHz band (5925-6425 MHz) in Australia.
The consultation aims to explore potential future uses of the upper part of the band (6425-7125 MHz) for higher power RLAN devices, and changes to existing RLAN arrangements in the 5150-5250 MHz range of the 5 GHz band. The consultation may be accessed here and will receive comments until November 19, 2021.
