Brazil (ANATEL) - Updates Acts on Restricted Radiation Radiocommunication Equipment

The National Telecommunications Agency (ANATEL) in Brazil has published the following Acts:


Act No. 237

This Act released on January 7, 2022, updates the Test Procedures for Assessing Conformity of Restricted Radiation Radiocommunication Equipment. It establishes test procedures and minimum requirements necessary for the standardization of methods, instruments, and facilities used in the laboratory environment to perform the tests, as well as details regarding set up and application of the tests for restricted radiation radiocommunication equipment. This Act revokes Act 6506, which described the previous local testing procedures.


Act No. 423

This Act released on January 12, 2022, updates Act 14448, on the Technical Requirements for the Assessment of Restricted Radiation Radiocommunication Equipment. Act 423 has the premise of changing the items listed below and their respective sub-items of Annex I of Act No. 14448,

It is aiming to improve the understanding and application of the standards to new

products operating in frequency bands designed for the following products:

  • Emitter-sensor of electromagnetic field variation

  • Broadband wireless access system for local networks

  • Systems operating in the 57-64 GHz band

  • Systems operating in the UWB radio frequency bands

  • Systems for sharing access to the medium in the 5150-5350 MHz bands

  • 5470-5725 MHz, and 5725-5850 MHz bands

  • Wireless Multigigabit system
