The Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED) in Canada has published the Radio Standards Specification RSS-248, Issue 1 on November 19, 2021. RSS-248 defines the certification requirements for license-exempt, low-power RLAN devices operating in the 5925-7125 MHz (6 GHz) frequency band, and it is now in force.
ISED has also opened a public consultation on RSS-102 SPR-ADP, Issue 1, “Supplementary Procedure for Assessing Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) and Absorbed Power Density (APD) Compliance of Portable Devices in the 6 GHz Band (5925-7195 MHz).” The purpose of this compliance procedure is to describe technical requirements and procedures necessary for demonstrating compliance with SAR and APD limits for portable devices that operate in the 6 GHz frequency band that are subject to the newly published RSS-248. The consultation may be accessed here and will be open for comments until January 31, 2022.
