The Undersecretary of Telecommunications (SUBTEL) in Chile announced on July 24, 2023 about transitioning networks from 2G to more modern networks, which will allow for more efficient energy consumption. SUBTEL has requested that companies who plan to stop using 2G networks, provide a plan outlining the transition process so that 2G network shut downs in any region of Chile do not leave users without connectivity.
