China (CNCA) - CNCA-C09-01:2023 Implementation Rules for Electronic Products & Safety

August, 2023

The Certification and Accreditation Administration (CNCA) of China announced new rules on June 30, 2023 - Compulsory Product Certification Implementation Rules for Electronic Products and Safety Annexes (CNCA-C09-01:2023). The updated Rules include Power Supplies, Power Banks, and Lithium-Ion Batteries and Battery Packs under CCC regulated products, and exempt 9 low safety risk or mature technology products. The Rules came into effect on August 1, 2023, and previous rules (CNCA-C08-01:2014), (CNCA-C09-01:2014), and (CNCA-C16-01:2014) were abolished. Designated Certification Bodies will formulate corresponding certification implementation rules in accordance with these new rules and will be able to implement certification and issue certificates once they have filed with the CNCA. Valid compulsory product certification certificates issued prior to August 1, 2023 may continue to be used, and conversion will be completed during renewals and transitions due to product changes and standard revisions.
