The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of China announced on June 29, 2023, a revision to the Network Access License (NAL) mark to replace the original paper mark. The main reason to promote the digitization of NAL marks is to improve efficiency of mark management by using the electronic screen display of telecommunications equipment. Manufacturers can adopt methods such as electronic display, physical printing, label adhesion, or other circumstances depending on the product needs to add the new mark.
As of July 1, 2023, the new NAL mark will be available and manufacturers may apply to use either the new mark or to use the original paper mark between July 1, 2023 and December 31, 2023. Beginning January 1, 2024, only the new NAL mark will be available for use. Previously issued paper markings will still be valid and may be used throughout the duration of their validity period.
