India (BIS) - Directives for Applications and Test Reports

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) amended the Circular regarding to test reports and documents submitted by applicant for grant of registration / inclusion on March 8, 2022. The updated Annexure – 2 includes the following additions under the scope of license under Scheme II of Schedule II of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018:

  • Fixed General Purpose LED Luminaries: A total of 10 models may be incorporated into a single test report (previously 20 models were the limit).

  • AC or DC Supplied Electronic Controlgear for LED Modules: A single license will be given. Test reports of single type/product such as either AC Supplied Controlgear or DC Supplied Controlgear will be accepted at a time.

  • UPS/Invertors: A single license will be given. Test reports of single type/product such as either UPS or Invertors will be accepted at a time.

  • Power Invertors for Use in Photovoltaic Power System: A separate registration will be granted for photovoltaic power invertors and for grid connected photovoltaic invertors.

  • Wireless Headphone & Earphone: Separate licenses will be given. A single license will be given for Wireless Headphones, and a single license will be given for Wireless Earphones.

  • Phase V products: A single license will be required for each category.

  • Low-Voltage Switchgear products: Series guidelines are currently under preparation.
