India (DoT) - Exemptions for Import Licensing

The Wireless Planning and Coordination (WPC) Wing of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) of India published the Compendium of Orders/ Circulars/ Guidelines in regard to import licensing requirement from WPC Wing for the import of wireless equipment.

Exemptions and relaxations have been included for the following categories:

  • License Exempted RF Devices (Equipment Type Approval) (ETA), including Self-Declaration ETA, Scrutiny based ETA, and devices that are prototypes or to be used for testing that are exempted from the requirement of ETA

  • License-Band RF Devices

  • Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of Telecom Equipment

  • Import Procedures for licensees under categories of Experimental & Technology trial, Manufacturing & Testing & Demonstration

  • Standalone Antenna and other RF Accessories

Online facility for many of these categories are still under development.
