Malaysia (MCMC) - Cellular Booster Equipment Requirements

April, 2022

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) published an announcement on March 14, 2022, reminding customers that MCMC published and approved Technical Codes for IMT-2020 (Fifth Generation) Cellular Booster Equipment and Global System for Mobile Communications and Long-Term Evolution – Cellular Booster Equipment in August 2021.

All GSM, LTE, and 5G CBE devices imported to Malaysia must be certified according to these Technical Codes. Applications that fulfill the technical code and certification requirements will be granted full approval and are allowed for a maximum validity period of 5 years.

Renewal applications for existing approval of GSM, LTE, and 5G Booster Equipment are no longer allowed and these existing applications are expired effective immediately. A new Normal Application is required to meet new technical code requirements for Cellular Booster Equipment.
