Malaysia (SIRIM) - Approval Procedure for 3G Devices

The Standard and Industrial Research Institute (SIRIM) of Malaysia announced the 3G network stopped working on December 31, 2021.


SIRIM QAS International introduced the changes in renewal and type approval procedures for 3G devices that became effective from January 1, 2022.


Already-certified 3G devices support 2G, 4G, and/or 5G technologies can get the renewal without any changes. Information about 3G application will be kept.


Manufacturers who want to apply for type approval with the new 3G device, can do it. However, in spite of the unoperated 3G network in Malaysia, manufacturers still need to provide the related test report included 3G technology in the certificate of compliance.
