Mexico (IFT) - Enforces Compliance of NOM-221 Part 2

December, 2022

The Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFETEL) of Mexico is increasing the enforcement of NOM-221 Part 2 compliance for products that use any or all of the following bands: 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 850 MHz, 1900 MHz, 1700 MHz/2100 MHz and/or 2500 MHz. Previously, IFETEL allowed for mobile products not to be under the scope of NOM-221 Part 2, and instead go through the Perito-Traditional review process.

However, IFETEL has changed its stance and has started rejecting Perito-Traditional applications for products that operate in the bands listed above for NOM-221 Part 2. To avoid rejections, applicants should obtain NOM-221 Part 2 testing going forward.
