The Secretaría de Economía (SE) of Mexico published a bulletin on importation of samples for certification purposes on June 21, 2022. According to the bulletin, importers must comply with the following procedures:
The number of samples to be imported must not exceed 3 or, depending on the case, the number of samples determined by the corresponding NOM.
The importer must declare in the import petition before activating the mechanism of automated selection, the EN identifier of Appendix 8 of Annex 22 of the SAT rules, which identifies the merchandise.
The importer must declare the tariff fraction 9806.00.01 for the importation of samples.
The importer must declare a letter under oath in accordance with the NOM standard which includes the name of the applicable certification or ruling scheme, the name of the Certification Body (CB) or inspection unit, the quantity of samples required for corresponding tests, or, the document issued by the CB or inspection unit that establishes that they are samples to be submitted for laboratory tests for certification or ruling purposes. This letter should be an electronic or digital document that is annexed to the petition.
