New Zealand (RSM) - 6GHz Band for WLAN Use

August, 2022

The Radio Spectrum Management (RSM) in New Zealand has made the 5925-6425 MHz frequency band available for Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) under Lower Power Indoor (LPI) and Very Low Power (VLP) Indoor and Outdoor use through the Radiocommunications Regulations (General User Radio License for Short Range Devices) Notice 2022.

This decision aligns New Zealand with current approaches in Australia, the UK, and Europe. RSM will update the Radiocommunications Regulations (Radio Standards) Notice 2020 soon, and the wider 6 GHz band, or the 5925-7125 MHz band, still remains under discussion internationally.
