The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) of Saudi Arabia has provided a draft document on the Spectrum Use Regulation for Amateur Radio Services. This document informs how to obtain an Amateur Radio license and/or operate an Amateur Radio Station correctly.
CITC divides Amateur Radio License into two categories:
Full License: Allows the Radio Amateur to transmit and receive on all the frequency bands allowed for the Amateur Service in the KSA
Foundation License: Allows the Radio Amateur to only transmit on frequency bands above 30 MHz
The maximum allowed level of spurious emissions relative to the transmitted power for transmitters using frequencies:
≤ 30 MHz should be 40 dB less than the average power in the necessary transmission bandwidth, provided that this power does not exceed 50 mW
> 30 MHz should be 60 dB less than the average power in the necessary transmission bandwidth, provided that this power does not exceed 1 mW
CITC released the document for Public Consultation. In the document, CITC submits 15 questions to the interested parties regarding the content of each section with regards to:
Spectrum demand and released plans
Type approval procedure for the Amateur Radio Station equipment
The license term and renewal as well as the license revocation and cancellation conditions
The issue on sharing of Amateur Radio Stations
The application procedure and requirements of the Amateur Radio Test
