The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) published the Technical Regulation for Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) in Electrical and Electronic Equipment on July 9, 2021, and the second phase of the RoHS Regulation implementation, 2 – Information and Communication Technology Equipment, came into effect on December 31, 2022. Products in this category are now required to comply with the RoHS Regulation.
The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) published on July 9, 2021, a final version of the Technical Regulation for Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS). This Regulation came into effect on January 5, 2022, and applied to all electrical and electronic devices and equipment that fall into the following categories:
Household Appliances
ICT Equipment
Lighting Equipment
Tools, Electrical, and Electronic equipment
Games, Entertainment Devices and Tools, and Sports Equipment
Monitoring and Control Tools
Exemptions from the scope of this Regulation include:
Medical Devices
Weapons and Military Equipment to be sent into space
Large-Scale Stationary Industrial Tools
Extensive Fixed Equipment
The regulation will be implemented in the phases below:
