November, 2022
The Government of the United Kingdom announced on November 14, 2022 that businesses will be given two additional years to apply the new UKCA product marking. Businesses may choose to use either UKCA or CE markings until December 31, 2024, after which date businesses must only use the UKCA marking.
The Government of the United Kingdom initially announced the new measures to simplify the application of new UKCA marks on June 20, 2022. These updates include the following measures:
Reducing re-testing costs by enabling manufacturers to apply the UKCA mark on products that have already received conformity assessments for CE marking by EU bodies prior to the end of 2022.
Removing the re-testing requirement for current imported stock with CE markings until the end of 2022.
Allowing spare parts for repairing, replacing, or maintaining goods already on the market to meet the same requirements that were in place when the original product or system was placed on the market.
Extending current labeling measures to allow for important information and UKCA markings to be added with a sticky label or accompanying documents to December 31, 2025.
The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) of the United Kingdom also updated the Guidance for placing manufactured goods on the market and for using the UKCA marking on June 20, 2022.
The UKCA marking has been extended until December 31, 2024.
