The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the USA has updated its rules and provided a New Framework for Innovators to Market, Import, and Pre-Sell Tech Devices Earlier in the FCC Review Process. The rules become effective October 20, 2021.
The rules allow for faster timeframes in developing and releasing new wireless tech devices to match the current pace of innovation. The Report and Order allows for opportunities to import, market, and conditionally sell newly developed radiofrequency devices such as smartphones, wireless headphones, and Wi-Fi routers, prior to completing the equipment authorization process, so long as the devices are not provided to consumers until achieving full compliance. The Commission will retain appropriate oversight over the proper authorization of these devices and ensure that they comply with FCC rules.
