The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the USA has announced a public consultation on June 9, 2023 which considers spectrum sharing models in the 42-42.5 GHz frequency band.
The three shared licensing approaches referenced in the consultation include:
Nationwide non-exclusive licensing, in which specific deployment sites with a third-party database are coordinated by licensees.
Site-based licensing, in which licensees apply directly with the FCC for deployment sites.
Technology-based sensing, in which operators avoid harmful interference from each other by employing specific technologies.
The consultation may be accessed here and will be available for comments until July 9, 2023.
