Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) has adopted ETSI EN 301 893 V2.2.1 (2024-11) for demonstrating Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) compliance of 5 GHz WAS/RLAN devices subject to RSS-247, Issue 4.

Overview

  • ETSI procedure: Until the end of the transition period, manufacturers using the ETSI-based test procedure could use either ETSI EN 301 893 V1.8.1 or V2.2.1. After it, new certifications using the ETSI procedure must apply V2.2.1.

  • FCC KDB 905462 remains an accepted alternative, except for devices operating in the 5600-5650 MHz band, where only the ETSI EN 301 893 procedure is accepted.

  • Affected products are those subject to the DFS requirements of RSS-247, Issue 4, particularly devices operating in the 5250-5350 MHz and 5470-5725 MHz bands. Examples include access points, multimedia systems, and automotive infotainment devices.

ISED proposed the adoption in Notice 2025-DRS0006 on September 10, 2025. The transition period ended on July 20, 2026, so all new applications submitted after that date may use ETSI EN 301 893 V2.2.1.
