EU Updates Harmonised Standards Under the Radio Equipment Directive
The European Commission has published Decision (EU) 2026/2003, amending Decision (EU) 2022/2191 on harmonised standards under the Radio Equipment Directive (RED, 2014/53/EU).
Overview
Harmonised standards listed in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) give radio equipment a presumption of conformity with the essential requirements they cover.
The updated references include standards for several categories of radio equipment, including radiodetermination equipment operating in the 2.4 GHz to 2.4835 GHz range, and Ultra-Wideband (UWB) short range devices installed in motor and railway vehicles.
The new references were published in the OJEU on September 7, 2026. Superseded references are scheduled to be withdrawn on March 7, 2028, providing a transition period between the existing and updated standards.
