The BSMI has added cybersecurity requirements to its VPC Program for EV Charging Systems, addressing risks associated with remote services. Effective from June 29, 2023, a one-year transition period allows VPC-certified products to comply. The standards cover physical and system security, firmware updates, communication security, and identity authentication. Current certificate holders are urged to test and reissue certificates. Businesses are encouraged to certify early for consumer privacy and power grid stability. Consumers are advised to avoid unknown apps, protect passwords, and report abnormalities promptly to prevent cybersecurity breaches and accidents.
