Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) has officially updated its standards for Wireless Communication Service (WCS) equipment. On January 16, 2026, the department released RSS-195, Issue 3, which replaces the previous version that had been in place since 2014. The updated standard governs equipment operating in the 2305-2320 MHz and 2345-2360 MHz frequency bands.
New Power Requirements: Table 2 now includes specific maximum transmitter power requirements for fixed stations, base stations, and subscriber equipment.
Formalized Band Plan: A clear band plan for the 2305-2320 MHz and 2345-2360 MHz ranges has been integrated into Table 1 to streamline implementation.
Expanded Definitions: New terminology has been added to the document to reduce ambiguity regarding technical roles and equipment types.
Structural Modernization: The document has been reorganized to match the current standardized layout used across all recent Radio Standards Specifications (RSS).
Editorial Refinements: General clarifications and editorial updates were made to improve the overall readability and application of the standard.
