NTA's Frequency Policy 2080: Expanding 5 GHz, Introducing UWB, and Allocating 865 MHz for IoT

The Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) has released the new frequency policy 2080, expanding the 5 GHz band and permitting the use of the 865 MHz band and Ultra Wide Band (UWB).

The policy has broadened the permissible 5 GHz band as follows:

1.    5.150 - 5.350 GHz

2.    5.470 – 5.650 GHz

3.    5.725 – 5.825 GHz

The maximum permissible transmitter output power for this band is 1W (30 dBm), with a maximum Effective Isotropic Radiated Power (EIRP) of 4W (36 dBm).

Nepal now allows Ultra Wide Band (UWB) in the 6.0 - 8.5 GHz range with specific power limits. The policy also designates 865 MHz to 868 MHz for IoT, M2M, and smart metering on a non-exclusive shared basis.
