The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) announced on September 26, 2025, the approval for Wi-Fi 7 and future Wi-Fi technologies to operate in the 6 GHz frequency band (5925–6425 MHz). The decision aligns with the parameters previously set for Wi-Fi 6E, positioning Pakistan among early adopters in the Asia-Pacific region.

The adoption of Wi-Fi 7 is expected to bring ultra-high data rates and low latency, supporting demanding applications like 8K streaming, AR/VR, and industrial automation.

The PTA states this move will help ease network congestion, potentially reduce broadband delivery costs, and improve connectivity for various sectors, contributing to the country's digital economy goals.
