ISED Canada Seeks Input on Radio Standard for C-V2X Technology

Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED) Canada has initiated a public consultation on a key radio standard that will impact the future of intelligent transportation systems (ITS). The consultation is focused on RSS-252, Issue 3, "Intelligent Transportation Systems' (ITS) On-Board Units (OBUs) in the 5895 – 5925 MHz Band."

This standard outlines the certification requirements for license-exempt Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X) radio devices. These on-board units are intended for use in vehicles and operate in the 5895-5925 MHz frequency band to facilitate ITS applications.

The public consultation began on August 27, 2025, and comments must be submitted no later than November 10, 2025.
