UK Ofcom Proposes Changes for Mobile Repeater 2022 Regulations

Updated: Nov 6, 2023

A consultation has been initiated to consider changes to the Wireless Telegraphy (Mobile Repeater) (Exemption) Regulations 2022, which govern the usage of mobile phone repeaters without requiring a wireless telegraphy license.

The proposals include:

  1. Eliminating the mandate for 4G static indoor repeaters to simultaneously support 2G and/or 3G signals.

  2. Revising the guidelines and restrictions for in-vehicle repeaters to facilitate signal amplification within the 700 MHz band and ensure their compatibility with various technologies.

Consultation ends December 4, 2023.
